The House

With five bedrooms and space for four in the tower, this is an ideal villa for a larger family or group. Starting out as a 18th century shepherd’s hut, it was extended, using local stone, oak, Provencal tiles and modern plumbing, by our family and has been a loved and cherished holiday base ever since.

The house and terraced grounds are not overlooked and have stunning views over the Esterel hills and to the Mediterranean coast, 40 kilometres to the south.

An infinity pool is set below the house. Further down are grassed terraces shaded by olive, fig and fruit trees. Nearer the house are shady terraces for lazy lunches and moonlit dinners. Rose bushes add colour and mulberry trees protect from the midday sun. An au vent with built-in barbeque, trailing vines and comfy furniture provides extra shade and privacy.

On the ground floor is [1] a spacious kitchen with huge fridge, dishwasher, cooker and fan oven and oak table which seats 8-10; [2] Salon with fireplace, sofas, TV/DVD, books maps and games [3] self-contained studio with double bed, en suite bathroom & loo. Ideal for couples with a baby or anyone seeking a bit more privacy. The salon and studio have shuttered doors leading directly onto the garden and terrace.

On the first floor are three bedrooms (two twin and one double with en suite shower) family bathroom and loo.

The tower has space for four and its own shower.

The whole house has a tremendous feeling of space and light. Every room has a southerly view, with shuttered windows to keep cool during the day.

In cooler months, there is heating in all rooms and an open fire in the salon.
